Celebrating the GTU Class of 2018

On Thursday, May 10, 2018, the Graduate Theological Union honored forty-three graduates at its 2018 Commencement Exercises. The graduating class included twenty-three scholars receiving the Doctor of Philosophy degree, nineteen receiving the Master of Arts degree, and one receiving the Master of Arts with a concentration in Biblical Languages. This year’s commencement exercises were held in the Le Conte Sanctuary at Zaytuna College. Jean-François Racine Receives 2018 GTU Excellence in Teaching Award

CJS@50

The CJS @ 50 conference and celebration on May 3, 2018, was a huge success!  We celebrated 50 years of Jewish studies at the GTU with an academic conference, a collaborative oral history of the CJS, and a special thanks to all those who supported CJS over the years. The GTU dedicated a special edition of its bi-annual magazine, Skylight, to CJS's anniversary.

GTU Offers Free Online Course in World Religions

The Graduate Theological Union and the Templeton World Charity Foundation are partnering to offer a free open online course entitled “Wisdom from World Religions.” The course will be taught by Dr. Kenneth Rose, senior research fellow at the GTU and professor of philosophy and religion at Christopher Newport University. Dr. Schweig is Distinguished Teaching and Research Faculty at the Center for Dharma Studies. Schweig earned the master’s degree in religious studies at University of Chicago Divinity School, a master’s of theological studies in history of religions and a master’s of theology in comparative religion from Harvard University Divinity School, and earned his doctorate in comparative religion from Harvard. CTNS Hosts Ron Cole-Turner as 2018 Russell Family Fellow in Religion and Science

From March 8-10, 2018, the Center for Theology and the Natural Sciences (CTNS) at the GTU hosted noted theologian Ron Cole-Turner as this year’s CTNS Russell Family Fellow in Religion and Science. Ron is the H.
