The Graduate Theological Union is pleased to announce community grants of up to $5000 as an extension of a generous grant from the Henry Luce Foundation. We welcome proposals from 501(c)(3) organizations in the Bay Area working on the frontlines with communities disproportionately affected by COVID-19.
The journal Teaching Theology & Religion, under the direction of the GTU has issued a call for papers on the topic of “Bringing New Modalities into the Religion and Theology Classroom.” Manuscripts are due August 15, 2020. A detailed description and guidelines can be downloaded by clicking here.
The GTU is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kamal Abu-Shamsieh as Director of its new Interreligious Chaplaincy Program and Lecturer in Practical Theology.
The GTU is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Mumford (PhD, ‘07) has been selected as the GTU’s 2019 Alumna of the Year. Dr. Mumford is the Frank H. Caldwell Professor of Homiletics at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where she has taught since 2007.
The GTU is saddened by news of the passing of Dr. Glenn Richard Bucher, the fifth president of the GTU. Dr. Bucher, who passed away at age 79 on June 26, 2019, served as President of the Graduate Theological Union from 1992 through 1999.
