Planned Giving

Join the Legacy Circle today by making a planned gift to the Graduate Theological Union.

Impact Future Generations of Interreligious Leaders.

Making a gift to the GTU through a bequest, estate gift, or retirement account is a wonderful way to leave your legacy at GTU.  Through a planned gift, you can meet your own financial goals and make a positive impact by equipping leaders for world of diverse religions and cultures.

Planned gifts can be designated in a way that is most meaningful to you. The gift can be used to support one of our academic centers of distinction, support faculty members, or create an endowment for student scholarships. Your gift will support, inspire, and transform the students, faculty, and GTU for generations to come.

If you would like more information on planned giving, or if you have already made a planned gift to GTU, please Christopher Cox, Associate Director of Development, by phone at 510-649-2531 or by email at ccox@gtu.edu. We look forward to working with you and welcoming you into the Legacy Circle, the designation reserved for donors who plan to make an estate gift to the GTU.

Create generosity that endures.

Types of Gifts

The simplest type of planned gift is a bequest, which can be made by simply designating the GTU as a beneficiary on a retirement account, will or charitable trust. You can also designate the GTU as the beneficiary of an asset such as a retirement plan or an insurance policy.

More complex planned gifts can allow you to retain the right to receive income from the gift or to direct the income to a loved one. An advantage of this kind of giving is that you do not need to fully part with the asset now, but can continue to benefit from the income it generates.
