Inspired by diasporic communities in the Bay Area, this exhibition explores the movement of sacred objects within Hindu and Eastern Orthodox traditions. The material manifestations of the sacred—gods, saints, divinity—move across space and time via physical transport and through replication and reproduction of images and objects.
This sacrality expands by way of transformation reliant on the artists who create these works and devotees who activate their meaning. These movements bridge distances, ensuring that the faithful maintain connections to the divine regardless of how far they travel from their homelands.
