Marianne Lettieri is a visual artist who works with cultural artifacts and common objects. Her mixed media constructions seek to reveal subtle and significant shifts in culturally shared values and practices. Inspired by the Badè Museum's collection of ancient biblical artifacts, Lettieri created a new body of work that incoporates objects of domestic and manual labor that reference culturally valued practices and individual identity. Here, her incorporation of disappearing relics of the past into pieces of art as a means of illuminating and informing current social, historical, political and cultural contexts intersects with the artifacts of the ancient Near East on display at the Badè Museum.
