Mining the Collection, Evidence of Life: Works by Marianne Lettieri

Sunday, June 1st 2014 to Sunday, August 31st 2014

Inspired by the Badè Museum's collection of ancient biblical artifacts, visual artist Marianne Lettieri created a new body of work that incoporates objects of domestic and manual labor that reference culturally valued practices and individual identity. Her incorporation of disappearing relics of the past into pieces of art as a means of illuminating and informing current social, historical, political and cultural contexts intersected with the artifacts of the ancient Near East on display at the Badè Museum.

Marianne Lettieri works with cultural artifacts and common objects. Her mixed media constructions seek to reveal subtle and significant shifts in culturally shared values and practices.
