Interreligious Chaplaincy Program Welcomes Kurdish Scholars to the GTU

The GTU’s Interreligious Chaplaincy Program recently hosted a group of scholars from the Iraqi Kurdistan Friday Prayer Council for an open discussion about religious minority expression in the US, dismantling anti-Muslim prejudice, and other key issues. GTU Student Zeinab Vessal Awarded Prestigious Ahlul Bayt Fellowship by the Mohsena Memorial Foundation

Zeinab Vessal is a PhD student in Art and Religion and Presidential Scholar at the GTU. She is a member of the International Quranic Studies Association, where she explores the societal implications of the Quran and enhances public understanding of Quranic inscriptions on Islamic objects and sacred spaces in the Middle East, as well as Shi’a-inscribed iconography in early modern manuscripts. The Graduate Theological Union (GTU) has been collaborating with the Internet Archive (IA) in an ambitious digitization project, making rare and essential theological resources accessible to a global audience. BERKELEY, CA – July 30, 2024 – The Graduate Theological Union is deeply saddened to share news of the passing of Dr. David Biale, Scholar in Residence at the Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies and Emanuel Ringelblum Distinguished Professor of Jewish History at UC Davis. Dr. Biale served as the inaugural Koret Chair and Director of the Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies at the GTU from 1986-1999. On Tuesday, July 9, the Church Divinity School of the Pacific (CDSP) announced the appointment of the Rev. Deborah Jackson, DMin, as the new associate dean of formation and recruitment. Introducing the 2024 Title IX Regulations

On April 19, 2024, the U.S. Department of Education released its Title IX Final Rule amending the existing regulations. The Final Rule specifies how recipients of federal financial assistance – including post-secondary institutions – must stop, prevent, and remedy sex discrimination and sex-based harassment in all education and employment activities. The new regulations will go into effect on August 1, 2024. Please read the full announcement of these changes below.
