Association of Theological Schools Awards GTU a $25K Grant for Innovative Educational Program

BERKELEY, CA, June 29, 2023 -- The Graduate Theological Union is pleased to have been named a recipient of the Moving Forward in Mission grant as part of the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) Organizational and Educational Models Project. The Richard S. Dinner Center for Jewish Studies at the Graduate Theological Union is excited to start a weekly beit midrash [house of study] program on Tuesdays this fall. Cross-registration of students in courses within the consortium is a valuable feature of the Graduate Theological Union. Remembering GTU Trustee Phillip M. Jelley

Former GTU Trustee Phillip M. Jelley, passed away on April 5, 2023, at the age of 91. Mr. Jelley served on the GTU Board from 1979-1990 and served as Treasurer for some of that time.   In addition to his time on the GTU Board of Trustees, Mr. Jelley also served on the Board of Trustees of the Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California for 30 years, including a period as Board Chairman. The Graduate Theological Union's Flora Lamson Hewlett Library has launched a new online exhibition, The Spirit of the Tarot: The Search for God's Picturebook.  The launch corresponded with the 2023 Reading of the Sacred Text lecture, presented by Rev.
