In this Queer & Latinx Faith Conversation, sponsored by The CLGS Latinx Roundtable | Fe, Familia, Igualdad, Rev. Nicole Garcia talks about her experiences as an ordained pastor in the ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church in America), including her decision to resign her call in July of 2021.  A trailblazer, Nicole has experienced – and called out – racism, transphobia, and homophobia in the church.

Join us as we discuss what lies ahead for Nicole in the church, the Latine and LGBTQ+ communities, and in her counseling endeavors.

The Reverend Nicole Garcia, M.A., LPC, is the first queer transgender Latine ordained in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). She is currently “on-leave-from-call” after resigning her call as a mission development pastor for a church in Boulder, Colorado. Nicole is also a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Colorado and works as a therapist and clinical supervisor with the Umbrella Collective.
