The GTU is pleased to announce that the Rev. Dr. Debra J. Mumford (PhD, ‘07) has been selected as the GTU’s 2019 Alumna of the Year. Dr. Mumford is the Frank H. Caldwell Professor of Homiletics at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, where she has taught since 2007.
The GTU is saddened by news of the passing of Dr. Glenn Richard Bucher, the fifth president of the GTU. Dr. Bucher, who passed away at age 79 on June 26, 2019, served as President of the Graduate Theological Union from 1992 through 1999.

The GTU extends its prayers, support, and sympathy to the students, faculty, and staff at GTU member school Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, and to the wider community at California Lutheran University in Thousand Oaks, after last night’s violent attack that occurred just a few miles from Cal Lutheran’s campus.
Gregory E. Sterling (PhD, '90) has been selected as the GTU's 2018 Alumnus of the Year. Dr. Sterling is Dean of Yale Divinity School in New Haven, CT, where he also serves as Lillian Claus Professor of New Testament. He will be honored on Saturday, November 17, at the GTU Alumni Reception at the AAR-SBL Annual Meetings in Denver.
After five decades as a GTU affiliate, the School of Applied Theology will be ending its current programs in June 2018; its mission of offering sabbatical programs for clergy and laity will continue through the JST Renewal Program at the Jesuit School of Theology.
