CIS Honors Fall 2015 MA Graduates

On behalf of the Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU, we are delighted to share with you that we have four more outstanding students who have completed their MA in Islamic Studies. Formal and official conferral of degrees will take place at the GTU graduation in May 2016.

Congratulations to the following students and their families:

  • Murat Bilici: "The Role of Islam in Kurdish Cultural Identity in America"
  • Ahmed Khater: "A Theoretical Study of Classical Islamic Jurisprudence: The Application of Marjuh Legal Opinions" (now in GTU’s PhD program)
  • Sammy Rahmatti: "Understanding and Countering Islamophobia"
  • Asif Sheikh: "The Transformation of Sufi Metaphysical Thought in South Asia" (with honors)

These graduates join a distinguished number of GTU alums in Islamic Studies. As with all our students and graduates, CIS and the GTU commends them for their commitment to engaged scholarship, and for playing important leadership roles in bridging academia with the larger public.
