CIS Director Jiwa to speak at KAICIID Global Forum in Vienna

Munir Jiwa, Director of the Center for Islamic Studies and Associate Professor of Islamic Studies at the Graduate Theological Union, has been selected to speak at the King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Centre for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) Global Forum in Vienna, Austria, taking place November 18-19.

From the KAICIID website (http://www.kaiciid.org/en/events/programmes/130813-kaiciid-gears-up-for-...):

KAICIID’s inaugural programme, The Image of the Other, is a multi-year initiative. While the second and third installments will focus on Media and the Internet, in its inaugural year, the programme is dedicated to interreligious and intercultural education. ...

The KAICIID Forum will bring together 450 thought leaders in intercultural and interreligious education, government officials and eminent religious figures. They will discuss the global challenge of finding ways to responsibly educate people so they may more accurately understand and depict people of other religions and cultures.

KAICIID's Global Forum takes place just prior to Religions for Peace World Assembly (November 19-22) on the theme Welcoming the Other: A Multi-Religious Vision for Peace.

The Graduate Theological Union applauds Dr. Jiwa's selection for this honor and knows that he will share the collaborative and cooperative spirit we foster every day.
