‘Eid Mubarak!
The Center for Islamic Studies at the GTU wishes our Muslim colleagues, families and friends a blessed upcoming ‘Eid ul-Adha. As Muslims will be completing hajj, the pilgrimage to Mecca, next week, we commemorate our shared Abrahamic tradition and our common humanity. May this be a time of greater understanding, unity and peace.
We welcome you all to join us for an ‘Eid lunch from 11:00 am - 3:00 pm on Tuesday, October 30, in d’Autremont Dining Hall, Pacific School of Religion, 1798 Scenic Avenue, Berkeley.

With few counterparts, the Center for Islamic Studies (CIS) offers graduate students and scholars, Muslim and those of other faith traditions, the opportunity to pursue the academic study of Islam, within the multireligious context of the GTU, where pluralism, dialogue and interreligious understanding are the basis of scholarship and service. It also provides a community for Muslim students throughout the consortium regardless of academic interests.

Join in a Green Tea Conversation with Roma Ulinnuha. Roma is a Ph.D. student at Indonesian Consortium for Religious Studies (ICRS). He is a lecturer of Ushuluddin, Religious Studies, and Islamic Thoughts at the State Islamic University (UIN), Sunan Kalijaga, Yogyakarta since 2006.

During this event Zaytuna College's co-founders, Hatem Bazian, Zaid Shakir, and Hamza Yusuf will speak about the recent wave of unrest in Libya, Egypt and other parts of the Muslim world that was set off due to the posting of the video maligning the Prophet Mohammad (SAW).
James A. Donahue (President, Graduate Theological Union) and Munir Jiwa (Assistant Professor, Graduate Theological Union) will also speak at this event.
Sandy Tolan, Associate Professor - Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism at USC will be moderating this event.

We will explore the Christian, Mormon, Muslim and Jewish perspectives on the upcoming election and the role of religion in American politics, with attention to recent discussions around the separation of Church and State, on religious freedom and its role in public policy, and U.S. foreign policy.
We will explore the various images of Muslims and Jews in television and film.
