Graduate Theological Union
GTU Orientation
Welcome To The GTU
On behalf of all of us here at the Graduate Theological Union I extend a warm welcome and offer congratulations on your decision to study in this wonderful environment! Wise choice!
While the GTU consortium consists of several independent, autonomous institutions, we collaborate together on a variety of endeavors not the least of which are the administrative functions and services listed here. Our hope is that our common approach to these activities will help you to thrive!
We know many of us learn in different ways and/or learn best when new information is presented in multiple formats. Our orientation efforts allow students to "read," "hear," and "see" the information you need to manage your program.
Below are links to some of this information. We suggest you read and view the information presented some time during the month of January, even before you attend the Consolidated Orientation session on Monday, January 28, 2013. The Consolidated Orientation Schedule is:
10:30 am – noon, Dinner Board Room, GTU Library
7:10 pm - 9:40, American Baptist Seminary of the West (ABSW), for ABSW students (ABSW students should arrive by 6 pm for chapel services, dinner, and photo ID pictures).
Students who cannot make their assigned session are welcome to attend one of the other sessions.
We will not cover all the information provided in the written presentations here during the orientation sessions. Instead, we will focus attention on 3 or 4 key issues for each service or area. Feel free to come to the Monday session with questions from your review of the linked material and we will be ready to answer them all!
All the new students will attend the consolidated orientations. Lunch will be provided for students attending the 10:30 am session; new ABSW students will have dinner together before the 7:10 pm session.
Welcome again!
Kathleen Kook, Ph.D.
GTU Acting Dean of Students and Vice President for Student Affairs
