Repentance and forgiveness are important motifs in Austen's work. This class will look at the source of their significance in her Christian faith, exemplified by the prayers she composed, and illustrated in her novels and their film versions.

Margaret McBride Horwitz (Ph.D.) is an independent scholar with a doctorate in film studies from UCLA and visiting professor of Christianity and Literature at New College Berkeley.
