New Advancement Executive Joins the GTU
The Graduate Theological Union is pleased to announce that Katherine E. Akos has joined the consortium as the new vice president for advancement. Ms. Akos has a 20-year history in public relations, management, and advancement work. Since 1996, she has been with the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. As vice president for advancement at the Conservatory, she directed an $80 million capital campaign for the relocation of its facility. With primary responsibility for fundraising strategies and programs, Ms. Akos will work closely with GTU board members, presidents of the seminaries, and others across the organization to achieve fundraising and development goals.
In joining the GTU, Ms. Akos was drawn by its mission of teaching and learning in an ecumenical and interfaith environment. She says that "fostering and nurturing this kind of dialogue and study is especially important in today's world. The depth and breadth of the member schools, centers and affiliates of the GTU offer many opportunities for collaborations and partnerships, and I look forward to working with the entire GTU community to develop and facilitate these efforts."
