Degree Programs & Certificates
There is no place to study quite like the GTU. We are a consortium of nine theological seminaries and eight centers and affiliates, and we are also a graduate school offering academic programs leading to the degrees of M.A., Ph.D., and Th.D. in a wide range of fields in theology and religious studies.
Study at the GTU is an ecumenical and interfaith experience. Religious traditions represented here now include Protestant, Catholic, Unitarian Universalist, Greek Orthodox, Jewish, and Buddhist—all of us working together for a common mission while maintaining the distinctiveness of our particular communities of faith.Study at the GTU is intellectually challenging and rich in resources. We are blessed with one of the finest theological libraries on the planet, an uncommonly large faculty of distinguished scholars, and a close collaborative relationship with our neighboring institution, the University of California, Berkeley.
Study at the GTU makes a difference in the world today. Our students and faculty are engaged with the religious traditions of the past and present in order to imagine a better world for the future. By studying together here, we learn to cooperate in building that world of peace and justice for peoples of every race, culture, and creed.
If you have any questions about our degree programs, I urge you to contact our Assistant Dean for Admissions, Kathleen Kook. Whether your vocational path leads to ministry or to scholarship—or to both—you will find this an incredibly exciting place to study.
